A cutting torch is a tool that uses a high-temperature flame, usually from a fuel gas and oxygen combination, to heat metal to a cherry-red state and then a powerful jet of pure oxygen to oxidize and blow away the molten metal, creating a cut. It features a trigger or lever to release the central oxygen stream, distinguishing it from a welding torch, which uses its flame to join metals instead
